The Nub – Tshona Pata Trek is a scenic trek through the remote highlands of Haa Valley, offering a journey through dense forests, alpine meadows, and high mountain passes. The highlight of the trek is the pristine Tshona Pata Lake, surrounded by yak pastures and dramatic mountain landscapes. Day 1 – Haa to Womji
Distance: 17 km | Duration: 5–6 hours | Altitude: 2,870 m
The trek begins in the beautiful Haa Valley, following trails through dense forests of conifers and rhododendrons. Ascend gradually toward Tale La Pass (2,800 m) before continuing toward Tshojo, a seasonal yak herder camp. The trail climbs further to Gochu La Pass (4,200 m), offering sweeping mountain views before descending to the campsite at Womji.

Day 2 – Womji to Tshona Pata
Distance: 22 km | Duration: 7–8 hours | Altitude: 3,350 m
Today’s trek climbs steeply through forests of juniper and rhododendron toward Goche La Pass (4,350 m), where trekkers are rewarded with dramatic mountain views. Continue through alpine meadows dotted with yak herder camps. In spring, the area is vibrant with blooming wildflowers. Cross Tsheja La Pass, part of the historic Haa–Tibet trade route, before descending to the stunning Tshona Pata Lake.

Day 3 – Rest Day at Tshona Pata
Altitude: 3,350 m
Enjoy a peaceful rest day at the pristine Tshona Pata Lake. Take time to explore the surrounding alpine landscape, spot golden trout in the clear waters, or visit nearby yak herder camps to experience the lifestyle of Bhutan’s nomadic highland communities.
Overnight: Tented Campsite
Day 4 – Tshona Pata to Tsang via Tshojo Lake
Distance: 8 km | Duration: 4–5 hours | Altitude: 3,600 m. Retrace the trail back to Goche La Pass, then follow a scenic ridge toward Tshojo Lake (3,780 m). The route passes through beautiful yak pastures before descending to your campsite at Tsang.
Overnight: Tented Campsite
Day 5 – Tsang to Haa
Distance: 18 km | Duration: 6–7 hours
The final day descends gradually through forests of juniper and rhododendron. Cross Tale La Pass once more before entering the peaceful Haa Valley, where your vehicle will meet you for transfer to your hotel.
