Day 1 – Arrival in Paro – Drive to Thimphu
Arrive at Paro International Airport and begin your Bhutan journey. Visit Tachog Lhakhang, a historic temple located near the Paro–Thimphu highway. Continue the scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital city, and visit Tashichho Dzong, the majestic seat of Bhutan’s government and central monastic body.

Day 2 – Thimphu Exploration
Discover the cultural attractions of Thimphu. Visit the National Memorial Chorten, one of the most important Buddhist monuments in Bhutan. Continue to Buddha Dordenma, a giant Buddha statue overlooking the valley. Visit Changangkha Lhakhang, an ancient temple, and the Motithang Takin Preserve, home of Bhutan’s national animal. Later explore the lively Kaja Throm Market.

Day 3 – Thimphu to Punakha (via Dochula Pass)
Drive toward Punakha. Visit Simtokha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s oldest fortresses. Cross the beautiful Dochula Pass, famous for its 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens and panoramic Himalayan views. Continue to Punakha for overnight stay.
Day 4 – Punakha Exploration
Hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, offering spectacular views of the valley. Visit the stunning Punakha Dzong, located at the meeting point of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. Explore Sangchen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery, visit the traditional Talo Village, and optionally visit the famous fertility temple Chimi Lhakhang.

Day 5 – Punakha to Bumthang (via Trongsa)
Enjoy a scenic drive through the Himalayan mountains crossing Pele La Pass and Yotong La Pass. Visit the beautiful Chendebji Chorten, modeled after Nepal’s Boudhanath Stupa. Stop at the historic Trongsa Dzong, Bhutan’s largest fortress and an important historical site. Continue to Bumthang, the spiritual heartland of Bhutan.

Day 6 – Discover Bumthang
Explore the sacred temples of Bumthang. Visit Jambay Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples. Continue to Kurjey Lhakhang and Tamshing Lhakhang, important Buddhist pilgrimage sites. Visit Jakar Dzong, the administrative center of the valley. Optional excursions include hiking to Ugyenchholing Palace or exploring the beautiful Tang Valley or Ura Valley.

Day 7 – Bumthang to Phobjikha
Drive toward the tranquil Phobjikha Valley, one of Bhutan’s most beautiful glacial valleys. This valley is the winter home of the endangered black-necked cranes. Overnight in Phobjikha.
Day 8 – Phobjikha to Paro
Visit Gangtey Monastery, overlooking the valley. Drive back to Paro with scenic stops. Optional visits include Rinpung Dzong and the National Museum of Bhutan.

Day 9 – Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery
Trek to the famous Taktsang Monastery, Bhutan’s most iconic monastery perched dramatically on a cliff above Paro Valley.
This sacred site is associated with Guru Padmasambhava, who meditated here in the 8th century.

Day 10 – Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward flight. Your unforgettable Bhutan journey concludes with wonderful memories.

Best Time to Visit Bhutan
The best seasons for this Bhutan cultural tour are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) when the weather is clear and mountain views are spectacular.

The hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery takes approximately 4–5 hours round trip and requires moderate physical fitness.
