Thimphu Festival

Upon arrival at Paro, you will be greeted by your guide and begin a scenic drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours along a beautiful valley road following the Paro and Thimphu rivers.

On arrival, check in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure, allowing time to acclimatize to the altitude and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Thimphu.

After breakfast, you will visit Tashichho Dzong to witness the vibrant celebrations of the Thimphu Tshechu.

You will spend the day observing sacred masked dances performed by monks and lay dancers, each telling stories of Buddhist teachings and symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. The festival atmosphere is lively and deeply spiritual, with locals dressed in their finest traditional attire gathering to receive blessings and celebrate together.

In the evening, return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Thimphu.

Today, you will explore the cultural highlights of Thimphu, starting with a visit to the magnificent Buddha Dordenma, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the valley. You will then visit the sacred National Memorial Chorten, where locals gather daily for prayers.

Later, you may explore traditional craft markets, the Folk Heritage Museum, or simply stroll through the charming streets of Thimphu. If you wish, you can return to the festival grounds for additional performances.

After breakfast, you will drive to Punakha via the scenic Dochula Pass (3,100m), where on a clear day you can enjoy spectacular views of the Himalayan mountain range and the famous 108 stupas.

Descending into the warmer Punakha Valley, you will visit the stunning Punakha Dzong, beautifully located at the confluence of two rivers. You may also enjoy a short walk across the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan before checking into your hotel.

After breakfast, you will enjoy a relaxed morning in Punakha before driving back to Paro via Dochula Pass.

Upon arrival in Paro, check in to your hotel and spend the evening exploring the peaceful town, visiting local shops, or relaxing at your hotel.

Today marks the highlight of your Bhutan journey as you hike to the iconic Paro Taktsang.

The hike takes approximately 4–5 hours round trip and leads you through beautiful pine forests to one of the most sacred sites in Bhutan, perched dramatically on a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley. It is believed that Guru Rinpoche meditated here in the 8th century.

After the hike, return to Paro for a well-deserved rest and overnight stay.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Paro International Airport for your onward journey.

As you depart, you will carry with you unforgettable memories of Bhutan’s rich culture, spiritual heritage, and breathtaking landscapes.
