Day 1 – Arrival in Paro – Drive to Thimphu

Arrive at Paro International Airport and begin your Bhutan journey with a scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital city. Enroute visit Tachog Lhakhang, a historic temple built by the Tibetan master Thangtong Gyalpo, and stop at a local weaving center to see traditional Bhutanese textiles being produced. In Thimphu, visit the impressive Tashichho Dzong, Bhutan’s majestic seat of government and religion.

Day 2 – Explore Thimphu

Spend the day exploring the cultural highlights of Bhutan’s capital. Visit the National Memorial Chorten, an important Buddhist monument where locals gather for daily prayers. Continue to Buddha Dordenma, one of the largest Buddha statues in the world, overlooking the Thimphu valley. Visit the Motithang Takin Preserve, home of Bhutan’s unique national animal. Explore the Green Weaving Center and optionally visit the lively Kaja Throm Market or the Craft Bazaar where local artisans sell traditional art, textiles, and handmade products.

Day 3 – Thimphu – Gangtey / Phobjikha via Dochula Pass

Drive from Thimphu toward the pristine Phobjikha Valley, crossing the famous Dochula PassThe pass is home to the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens, offering spectacular views of the Himalayan mountain range on clear days. Arrive in the peaceful valley of Phobjikha, the winter habitat of the endangered black-necked cranes. Visit the Black Necked Crane Information Centre and enjoy an optional nature walk through the beautiful glacial valley.

Day 4 – Gangtey – Punakha

Visit the historic Gangtey Monastery, an important Nyingma monastery overlooking the valley. Continue the journey to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. Visit Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Temple of Fertility. Explore the magnificent Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most iconic fortresses located at the confluence of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. Enjoy views of Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten and walk across Bhutan’s longest suspension bridge.

Day 5 – Punakha – Paro

Drive back to Paro.

Visit the National Museum of Bhutan (Ta Dzong), which houses an impressive collection of Bhutanese artifacts and historical treasures. Later explore the CSI Market Paro, showcasing locally crafted products and Bhutanese heritage inside a traditional Bhutanese house.

Day 6 – Paro – Hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest)

Today experience Bhutan’s most iconic attraction — the hike to Taktsang MonasteryThe monastery dramatically clings to a cliff nearly 900 meters above the Paro valley and is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in Bhutan. Alternatively, visitors can view the monastery from the base and visit Kyichu Lhakhang, Drukgyel Dzong, or the Namgay Artisanal Brewery for a tasting session.

Day 7 – Departure

After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward flight. Your magical Bhutan journey concludes with unforgettable memories of Bhutan’s spiritual depth and natural beauty.

Best Time to Visit Bhutan

The best seasons for this Bhutan cultural tour are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) when the weather is clear and mountain views are spectacular.

Fitness Level

The hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery takes approximately 4–5 hours round trip and requires moderate physical fitness.

Altitude Information

Travelers will cross high mountain passes including Dochula Pass (3,100m). It is recommended to stay hydrated and walk at a comfortable pace.
